Marketing Engineering

AI: the buzzword we all know and love (hate?) as of the past few years. For me, learning about AI has been an unlock to my career in marketing and has springboarded my passion for solving problems in smart ways.

A little over a year ago, a role in AI didn't exist on the marketing team at Guild. I kept running into problems I knew I could solve using AI, so I researched, built tools, and found community with like-minded people trying to do the same thing. Today, I'm Guild Education's Storytelling Manager & Marketing AI Enablement Lead, the first person doing AI enablement work for marketing here. Here's what led there, and what came out of it.

Promoted to Storytelling Manager

Took over Guild's storytelling function: interviewing learners and surfacing stories used across 100+ employer partners, including Disney, Chipotle, PepsiCo, Discover, and JPMorgan Chase.

Storytelling Librarian

The storytelling team was spending hours searching a 400+ PDF content repository with a vendor tool that cost $50,000 a year. I built an internal AI agent that replaced it for free, originally as a full Glean agent and later rebuilt as a Claude skill, which is what the team uses today.

$50K saved annually · 400+ PDFs searchable in seconds
C A colleague, after her company-wide presentation on Storytelling Librarian
"It doesn't even feel like she's presenting. It feels like she's just talking, and I'm captivated."

Guild Academy

Selected for Guild Academy, the company's internal AI product, and interviewed by Guild's internal team to help explain the company's AI approach to others, work that also helps sell Academy to external buyers.

The Commercial Plugin

Designed and built a skill-based AI infrastructure for Guild's corporate marketing and commercial teams, giving people a faster, click-based way to find information and build their own workflows.

150+ users adopted it

AI Workbench

Built a resource that breaks down AI terms and concepts in plain language, so marketing teammates know where to start and feel confident experimenting.

Built the Learner Dashboard

Built an AI-powered dashboard, in Replit, that pulls stats from learner stories into one place, so the storytelling team and the rest of the company can see and share what's happening with members faster.

A Workflow Automation That Sparked a Chain Reaction

Built a Zapier automation that takes over the moment a learner books a call: sends a follow-up, a DocuSign, and updates the calendar invite automatically. It replaced a manual process that had been in place for 5+ years. Someone on the Recruiting team saw it and built their own version for employment docs the same week.

R A Recruiting teammate
"Shout out to Lexi for the DocuSign Zapier vibes. You got me thinking, then building. Manual process in place for 5+ years automated in a little less than 2 hours of build. Thank you for sparking the fire!"

Training Every Subteam in Marketing

Held hands-on AI trainings for each marketing subteam, helping people scope their actual problems and figure out which AI approach, if any, made sense.

P A Product Marketing teammate
"She made time in advance to do an intake on our needs, came in deeply prepared, and tailored everything through a PMM lens. She struck a great balance between tactical how-to and bigger-picture thinking, and didn't just share tips, she explained the logic behind them. I left the session feeling much more confident about how we can use AI more effectively as a team."

The Title Caught Up to the Work

Marketing AI Enablement Lead became my official title, a role I advocated for and defined myself since it hadn't existed at Guild before me.

G A Guild colleague
"The work you've been leading in AI all year has been really amazing."
I now hold weekly office hours for anyone on the marketing team who wants help figuring out what AI could actually do for their team.
